Intelogy attends the IRMS Office 365 and Social Media Archiving event as a Speaker

Intelogy were pleased to present at the IRMS Midlands Office 365 and Social Media Archiving event on Tuesday (25th September) at the Peak District National Park Authority in Bakewell.

The IRMS describe themselves as the foremost association for all information professionals, with over 1000 members in around 30 countries and territories worldwide, across the public, private and voluntary sectors. Their mission is to provide leadership in records and information management by supporting and promoting activity within the profession and being active in advocacy and collaboration.

Robert Bath, Intelogy’s Information Management and Compliance Practice Lead ran a presentation on the new data governance features within Office 365’s Security & Compliance centre.

Robert’s session provided an overview of all the features, before demonstrating the application of labels and label policies in detail. The advantages and disadvantages of using the new features were evaluated, before introducing a new model for architecting within Office 365, to mitigate some of the drawbacks of labels, while reducing the amount of time required for both IT and Information Management professionals to maintain an EDRM / records management solution that uses the proposed model.

Key amongst the advantages mentioned – when using this model, staff get the benefit of being able to easily work in their own structures, while the majority of content is classified contextually without requiring manual tagging; resulting in a system that is simple and easy for staff to use, aligned with Microsoft’s trajectory, and offering substantial improvements in an organisations classification and records management – essentially making regulatory compliance more achievable.

Intelogy will be presenting with IRMS again on Friday 7th December at Westminster Archives.
