Three reasons to introduce your team to Yammer
There’s a number of applications included with Office 365, and one of them is Yammer. If your organisation isn’t familiar with Yammer, it may be time to introduce them.
What is Yammer?
Simply explained by Microsoft, Yammer is a private social network that helps you get connected to the right people, share information across teams and organise around projects. Only your co-workers can join, so your communications on Yammer are secure and visible only to people within your organisation. Essentially, Yammer can be deemed as your ‘Facebook for work’.
Looking for a way to send a message to the whole company? Yammer provides the solution for this. Of course, there would also be the solution of sending an email to your colleagues, but things get lost in email, especially in a fast-paced environment and yammer cuts out the middle-man by cutting down time spent – if you have a message, a document or a link to share with your colleagues, Yammer is the quick and easy solution.
Over 200,000 companies use Yammer, including 85% of Fortune 500 companies. So how do these companies use Yammer to go from strength to strength, and why should you introduce your team to Yammer?
1. Build a company culture
According to a Microsoft survey of 10,000 Yammer users, 83 percent of respondents indicated that they feel better connected with their co–workers because of Yammer. This results in stronger relationships between team members. Despite your level of seniority within the organisation, Yammer gives employees the freedom to get involved in any topic, so whatever the reason for a message, boundaries are broken down and co-workers can ignite and collaborate on new ideas.
2. Increase employee engagement
Encourage your colleagues to have a voice. This is a chance for your employees to be less formal with each other.
3. Multi-device platform
With apps across several different devices, it’s almost impossible not to keep up to date with Yammer. By 2022, the global mobile workforce is set to increase to 1.87 billion people or 42.5% of the global workforce. This is up from 38.8% in 2016. The way people work is changing; therefore, it makes sense to embrace these changes and prepare your co-workers for the future. If you have a team that travel or are constantly on the move, Yammer provides a simple way to message co-workers, as they can be notified on desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.
