Work Experience Placement at Intelogy – 2024

Last week, we were delighted to host three students from George Abbot School for a work experience placement.

I am so pleased we are able to provide these placements for students to gain valuable business and tech experience with Microsoft 365, and to give them an opportunity to explore their interests, develop their skills, and learn from our team.

The students got the chance to learn and work with Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, and AI Builder to create solutions for real business problems. They also met with many of our team and learned about their roles and career paths through friendly interviews powered by coffee and doughnuts.

It is inspiring to see the students’ fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and the creativity that they brought to our work. We hope that they enjoyed their time at Intelogy as much as we did and look forward to continuing our collaboration with schools and colleges on more opportunities in the future.

We wish the students all the very best for their futures in tech and beyond!

Here are some words about the work experience placement from the students themselves:

“Throughout my week at Intelogy, I’ve had the opportunity to get an insight into the industry of IT consultancy and software development. I was able to get involved in a development project, where I was given a real business problem, and got to create a workflow to guide the development of the software, simulating how the business consults clients and creates products for them. My favourite part of the week was learning how to use Microsoft Power Apps and being able to apply my learnt skills to create my own (fully functional!) app, that was able to send emails and Teams notifications in response to user inputs and decisions. Being able to meet so many different people in different roles was a great opportunity for me, and I loved talking to everyone about their passions and day-to-day responsibilities in the business.”

“My interest in software development and computer programming came from when I was younger, making little games using Scratch. I have always loved the satisfaction of finishing a project because it gave me such a sense of fulfilment. When I heard about Intelogy I was interested to learn about how they integrate technology and software into businesses. The team kindly helped me get a head start on the Microsoft Learn App in a Day course which helps those who are just getting familiar with Power Apps. Once I had completed the course, I felt confident to have a go on my own. I am personally extremely interested in AI and how powerful it can be. Using Microsoft’s AI Builder I had a go at building a document-processing app using Microsoft Copilot and Power Automate. This was fascinating and I thoroughly enjoyed it. having this experience has given me an insight as to what an apprenticeship in the business would look like and how the business runs. I have also developed valuable skills for the future.”

“Over the course of this week, we have been able to meet and work with individuals from teams across the business. Through this experience, I have been able to expand my knowledge on Marketing and Finance, specifically in relation to IT consultancy and development. I found this particularly interesting, and good exposure to areas of business that I am considering focusing more on in the future. It has been a valuable learning experience that has deepened my understanding of Marketing in the Technology sector. I have had the chance to create content, brainstorm promotional campaigns and work on social media and I am excited to apply the knowledge and skills I’ve gained to my future work.”
